Costing & Design Engineer - LT Panels

About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Costing and Design Engineer to join our LT Panel Division. The candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, designing electrical panels as per customer requirements and industry standards (IS/IEC), and supporting project execution with engineering documentation.

Role & responsibilities

• Develop electrical schematic diagrams, GA drawings, and wiring layouts using AutoCAD or E-Plan.

• Design LT panels including PCC, MCC, AMF, APFC, and DBs as per project specifications.

• Ensure compliance with IS 8623/IEC standards, electrical safety norms, and client requirements.

• Coordinate with the production team to resolve design issues during panel assembly.

• Select and specify electrical components (breakers, contactors, relays, meters, etc.).

• Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) and costing sheets for client RFQs and tenders.

• Evaluate cost implications based on alternate design proposals and material selection.

• Liaise with the procurement team to get updated vendor pricing and lead times.

• Conduct value engineering to optimize panel cost without compromising on performance.

• Support the sales and estimation team during techno-commercial bid submissions.

Qualification & Skills

• 3–5 years of experience in LT Panel design and costing.

• Strong knowledge of switchgear components (Schneider, Siemens, ABB, L&T, etc.).

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools.

• Familiarity with IS/IEC standards, SLDs, and control schematics.

• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and cost consciousness.
